Tomorrow we go to Tromsø to be with the growing covenant community there. Besides that we will be able to have some time with our grandchildren and their parents. I am really looking forward for a good time this weekend with our family and friends.

No promise of God has failed!
I have been reading the Book of Joshua today. It is a fascinating story! The assistant of Moses took over leadership responsibility after his death. From the very beginning God told him to be strong and courageous in obeying all the instructions God had given through Moses. He was to study the Book of the Law continually and to meditate on it always. Only then he would obey all that was written and succeed in bringing the people into the promised land.
As I was reading the story again today it struck me how often it is mentioned that they did this or that according to the command of God through his servant Moses. The Lord instructed Moses what to do when the people entered the land. Moses died but Joshua carefully followed the instructions of the Lord and brought the people into their inheritance according to the promises of their God.
At his final words to the Israelites Joshua said to them: Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true. Not a single one has failed!
I like this expression! Not a single promise of God has failed! God is a faithful God, he watches over his words to carry out everything he has said. No promise of God has ever failed! A promise of God will never fail!

Working in the garden
After a long day of studying and writing I went out to work in the garden this afternoon. I have a lot of work to do this season. Three big lorry loads of soil is to be moved and used to level of the lowest terrace in the garden. Last year I built a strong concrete wall. This year I plan to fill it up and to finish my vegetarian garden.
We already have some fruit trees as well as some blackcurrant bushes. I would like at least one more apple tree and several kind of berry bushes as well as strawberries.
But today I was just shuffling soil. It was heavy work and I was perspiring a lot. My heart was beating fast, but it was so nice to do some “proper” work. I thank God for the ability to work and for this garden that needs so much work to be done. After researching and writing working with my hands using my muscles is very refreshing.

Character formation
To be somebody is to be marked
By the very character of God by having
– love written all over you
– joy crafted in your face
– faithfulness inscribed on your heart
– peace carved deeply into your spirit
– patience chiselled into your very soul
– kindness imprinted on your entire being
– goodness penetrating your nature
– gentleness sculpturing your actions
– self-control engraved on your willTo be somebody is to be in the hands of God
Gratefully allowing the great artist of life do want he wants:
– remove sexual immorality and
– delete every impure thought
– wash away eagerness for lustful pleasure
– deliver from idolatry and participation in demonic activities
– take away hostility, quarrelling and outbursts of anger
– uproot jealousy and selfish ambitions
– plot out the feeling that everyone is wrong except your own little group
– set you free from envy and drunkenness
– rescue you from wild parties and other kinds of nasty behaviour
To install divine values into your inner being
For the real beauty of holiness to be seen
As you are radiate with the glorious grace of God -
From Sweden to Norway via India
The last week we have had Adam, a fine young man from Sweden, visiting us. He is a Bible school student. The hand of God is upon him and he has a burning desire to serve God and plant house-churches to reach the emerging generation of post-modern heathens in his home country.

Giving thanks – leaving comments
To be somebody is to give thanks
For the small things in life
It is to leave a comment
On a poetic blog of a stranger
Expressing appreciation with one word: cool!
Telling how you will use it
In blessing relatives and friendsWhen your footsteps are a trail
Of thanks and appreciations
Of positive and encouraging words
Of real and virtual smiles
Then everyone you encounter
Will think that you are really somebodyTo be somebody is not to take things for granted
But allowing yourself to be surprised
At any little token of goodness
And every expression of kindness
Giving glory to the Creator
He is the source of the beautiful life
Of a grateful heart -

Our new cell-group
We are just home from a gathering in our new cell-group in Fyllingsdalen in Bergen. When we arrived at the door at the flat where we were supposed to be, no one came to open the door! We knocked on the door, rang the bell, and even phoned through our cell-phone. Nothing happened!
