To be somebody is to push yourself forward
It is to lift your head above the mass
Avoiding being choked by the boring sameness of sin
Or being imprisoned by accepted rules
It is to make yourself free from conventional views
As you follow the Truth in ministering Grace
Liberating people around you to breathe freely
Even in the hostile environment of consumerism
As they keep looking steadily into God’s perfect law
– the law that sets people free

The honest person
To be somebody
is to be honest
to know that the truth
holds liberating power
the honest person
can walk with his head lifted high
look his neighbour into his eyes
in confident joy
the honest person
owns a treasure of integrity
more worth than all the wealth in the world -
Rejoicing
To be somebody
is to rejoice
in small things
in the ordinary days
and let the joy
brighten up life -
Smiling to life
To be somebody
is to smile to life
and all you encounter
in such a way that
all the bad things drown
in trust and faith -
To sing
To be somebody is to sing
in major and minor
in joy and sorrow
in longing and despair
to let life be a song
and all events be
the music and rhythm
that give the song life -
Having young people for dinner
To be somebody is having young people
Eating dinner with you in your home
And enjoying their company
Sharing our life with one another
As we talk of many different aspects
Of our life with God and our familiesTo be somebody is enjoying
Interaction with grown up people
Belonging to a different generation
That could have been our own children
But not noticing age at all
Because we all enjoy being God’s children
Having fun together
Appreciating one another’s company -
Being married
To be somebody is to be married
Because marriage is a risky enterprise
To marry is to dare to commit yourself
– to another person for life just because of love
To marry is to renounce a life of sovereign decision making
And to embrace the views and opinions of another person
Before any decisions are made – together!
To marry is to dare to open up your life
And fully share it with the one you love!To be somebody is to stay married
In spite of differences and conflicting interests
In the faithfulness and loyalty of love
You will find strength and wisdom
To overcome the biggest obstacles
And fight through the battles to win the war of Love
By laying down your life
To make your marriage partner happyTo be somebody is being married
And enjoy every minute
As you find your way – together -
Moving soil in a wheelbarrow
To be somebody is to move soil
To reshape your garden
And transform a hill sloop
Into a vegetable garden
By the use of a wheelbarrowTo be somebody is to look at the heap of soil
Brought to you by three big trucks
And dumped in front of your house
And behold beautiful fruits and vegetables
In stead of black soil
As you fill the wheelbarrow to move the heap
To create a fruitful gardenTo be somebody is to use a wheelbarrow
To start a new life of fruitfulness
