  • Harvesting strawberries

Solveig and I have been back in Norway for more than  a week and we enjoy the beautiful summer weather in Bergen. We have been busy with some work with the house and looking after grandchildren. The strawberries have been ripening day by day. We have picked a few some days ago, but today we could bring in the first proper harvest of Norwegian strawberries! There is no berry or fruit in the entire world that can compete with Norwegian strawberries.

As the sun went down behind the mountain. Solveig and I were sitting on the veranda looking at the fjord in front of us, enjoying delicious strawberries and giving thanks to God for his goodness towards us. Today we celebrate that it is 43 years since we exchanged rings and got betrothed to one another.

  • God in the world

I have been reading "Christ plays in ten thousands places" by Eugene Peterson while I am enjoying holyday in Spain. He is stressing the fact that God is involved in the world, in history. The other day he helped me to realise that there is plentiful supply of strawberries in Spain at the moment. I have been look for strawberries in the wrong places, – the places of yesterday i.e. last year. But God is with us on vacation as well and he has blessed us with wonderful strawberries even though it seemed to me at first that the season was over. God is in the world and he cares for the small things in life. Life consists of small things. Christ really plays in ten thousands places even when I am on vacation in Spain! I like to take part in that exciting play of Christ in everyday life.

  • Enjoying fresh fruits

We are having a very good time in Spain. The temperature is very nice and the fruit season is on. We are enjoying a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables. I am a bit disappointed in realizing that the strawberry season seems to come to an end! However, the sweet fellowship with my wonderful wife make up for the scarce supply of strawberries. We are having a good time during our daily "blue hour".

As we are enjoying the fresh fruits the Lord is speaking to us about this season of our life. We are to enjoy the fresh fruit of our humble labour in the Kingdom of God. We are enjoying fresh insight in the Word and even if we are not able to blog as much as we want we are still writing in our note books poems and fresh revelation. God is so good!

  • A relaxing and fulfilling time

We have been having a very relaxing and fulfilling time in Trondheim during the weekend. We have had a wonderful fellowship with people who are fully dedicated to the Lord. Saturday night we attended at gathering in the house of five students living together. After a light meal we continued to dialog. I had many questions and gave a few answers to provoke the young people to further considerations. A new Christian brought some refreshing comments and questions.

  • Fellowshipping

We have already arrived safely in Trondheim. Terje Dahle met us at the airport and took us to his new home in the Heimdal area. He prepared a nice lunch for us and we are having a wonderful time of eating and fellowshipping together. I am so happy to discover that he has a wireless Internet connection in his home enabling me to read my email and even post a short entry to my blog. In our discussion we have already been all around the world, but what I love most is that we have opened our Bibles to look at the Word of God together. The new phase of the covenant community of God will find fruitfulness only as it takes direction from the Word of God.

  • It is still snowing in Bergen

It has been a cold and very long winter. In fact, I have been told that it is the coldest winter for about fifty years! And this morning snow is still pouring down. Hopefully it will not last. The Spring is on the way. Winter has to let go of its grip. The Snow Bells and Crocuses are already out. The Daffodils or Easter Lilies are still not in bloom, but they are budding. The snow that is falling today is smelting on the ground. I think the winter has eventually lost its grip! Even if it is still snowing in Bergen today, the Spring is definitely here!

  • Restoring a farm house?

Dscf0802Recently I have been looking for an old farm house to restore. I think I have found the right place. There is certainly a lot of work to be done on the place I am in the process of buying. Actually I am buying myself a lot of work. But that is what I need at the moment. There is still some more things to be sorted out before I can buy this place 90 minutes drive from where we live. We are praying and trusting God to work it all out wonderfully!

  • Praising God in the congregation!

Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting with the covenant community in Bergen. We had a very good time in the presence of God. Some expressions used by David came to my mind. He speaks about praising God in the big meeting for people or in the midst of the congregation. As we were praising God, I looked around, and was touched to tears many times. As I looked at the people around me I realize that we all had our individual stories, we had all had our struggles in life. I knew the people well enough to know of the difficulties they had faced and how they had overcome. I was so grateful to the Lord for the privilege to worship him together with so many precious people with so many special stories of the goodness of God shown to them in miraculous ways. God is so good!

  • Laughing at my English

I had a good laugh today when I discovered that my post yesterday turned out quite different from my intention. I planned to write some thought a changing operative system, but ended up writing about operation system!

The good thing is that we can update a post on a blog, We can delete our past mistakes. We can have a new beginning. We can make things right! That is what we call grace! Then we are able to laugh at our mistakes and even learn from them!
