  • Hjelp til dei som er råka av flodbølgja

    Main_asia_erdm Eg har idag fått kontakt med vår venn Venkateswara Rao som bur i Machilipatnam som ligg på austkysten av India i delstaten Andra Pradesh. Vi besøkte han og var på stranda i november. Han driv eit fantastisk hjelpearbeid frå før med hjelp til sjølvhjelp gjennom ein organisasjon han har bygd opp: Faith Action for Community Transformation – FACT India. Då eg snakka med han på telefonen sa han at det var store behov for hjelp til dei overlevande i desse kystområda som vart råka av flodbølgja. Han set no igang eit hjelpearbeid og eg lova at vi ville samla inn midler som skal gå til hjelp for dei som har mista alt.

    Eg legg ved den eposten eg nettopp har fått frå Venkateswara. Der vil du sjå at i hans område er det fleire hundre døde. Heile landsbyar er øydelagde og dei treng absolutt alt for å få ein ny start!

  • Help for Tsunami survivors

    Main_asia_erdm_1 Today I was able to get in contact with our friend Venkateswara Rao in Machilipatnam at the coast of Andra Pradesh in India. We were visiting him and the seaside in November. He is doing a fantastic humanitarian work through his organisation FACT – Faith Action for Community Transformation. He is now ready to start relief work among the survivors of the tsunami in his area! I would appreciate it very much if you could help in raising funds to help these poor people!

  • Ruby Anniversary

    Solveig_brur Today Solveig and I are celebrating our Ruby Wedding Anniversary as it is 40 years since we married on the New Year’s Eve 1964. It has been 40 wonderful and exciting years together.

    The Lord has blessed us with six most wonderful children, Levi, Karl Enok, David, Josef, Hanna, Ruth Kristin, three daughters in law, Ingebjørg, Elizabeth, Lene, and one son in law, Daljinder, plus eleven most wonderful grandchildren, Kristina, Daniel, Jakob Edward, Sara Elisabeth, Lars Benjamin, Taj Kristian, Jai Ruben, Sunniva Isha, Jonathan Renè, Mathilde and Veronica.

    Levi, our firstborn son went to be with the Lord at the age of 24 nearly 15 years ago after several years of suffering. He is now free and safe with the Lord in a better world!

    God has been so good to us and we have so many reasons to give thanks to him for his faithfulness during our 40 years of happy marriage. God has given me the best and most wonderful wife in the world. Solveig is the best of all the thousands of women I have met!

  • The Earthquake Tsunami – a sign of the end-time?

    Is the tsunami in South East Asia a sing of the end-time? Can we link it to the predictions Jesus gave in the sermon on mount Olive, which is recorded I Matthew 24; Mark 13; and Luke 21? The question has been raised in a comment on my blog.

  • The dilemma of suffering

    The tsunami disaster in South East Asia leaves us with many questions. Why did it happened? Is it the judgement of God, like some people suggest? I think what Jesus answered the disciples in John 9:2-3 and Luke 13:2-5 is closer to the truth!

  • Warnings of the tsunami disaster

    It is difficult to take in the magnitude of this disaster. The death toll is constantly increasing. Ten million people may have been effected by the earthquake and its killer wave that destroyed so many houses!

    There also seems to have been given warning about this disaster in advance. My friend Zephry D’Souza writes about this in an email.

  • Contrasts at Christmas

    We went up to Gullbotn on my husband’s birthday and stayed there for six days. It was such a great joy to have all family gathered. Our children live far away from each other so it was a big event for them too. I was so grateful to God for this special time having 21 family members around the table during Christmas: children, in laws and grandchildren from 10 months and up to 9 1/2 years. I was moved to tears and praising God every day; just to look at them filled my heart with joy.

  • Vak og be!

    I den seinare tid har Gud tala til meg på mange ulike måtar om å vaka og be. Vi står i ein åndeleg kamp for å hausta inn den store grøda som høyrer Herren til. Berre når vi vakar og bed vil vi kunna verta brukt av Gud til å landet vårt tilbake til Gud. Landet vårt vil berre venda seg til Gud når vi som er kristne er vakne og nærverande i vårt samvær med menneske på arbeidsplassen og i nabolaget.

  • WATCHING A CATASTROPHE

    To be somebody is watching a catastrophe take place

    In distant areas of the globe

    But being present through prayers and compassion

    As you watch the horrible pictures on the screen

    From your comfortable chair

    In your warm and safe living room

    Thousands of miles away

    But still feeling the pain in your entire being

    The pain of losing your dear ones

    The pain of having your property destroyed

    The pain of being left with nothing

    The pain of not seeing any future

    The pain of having no hope

    The pain of watching the terrible effects

    Of the earthquake tsunami in safe surrounding

    Feeling out of place

    Feeling inadequate

    Feeling helpless

    Not being able to help personally

    But being out of touch

    Your mind can’t grasp the magnitude of the catastrophe

    Your heart can’t bear the sadness and the sorrow

    But you are still watching and praying

    –         and sending your donation to the relief organisation

    But the pain is still there

  • Killer Tsunami

    It has been painful to watch TV recently and hear the terrible news of the effect of the killer tsunami in South East Asia. It is almost impossible to grasp the magnitude of this catastrophe. Now the number of dead people have reached more than 60.000. I can’t find words to describe what I feel when I watch the pictures of the dead bodies and the destroyed villages and towns. May God have mercy on the survivors! May we find effective ways of helping them!
