Planning

The elders of the covenant community in Bergen have done a lot of planning recently. We are having strategic discussion with a larger leadership group. Today and tomorrow the elders only are together to fellowship and plan for growth and expansion. This is very much like what I have been reading about at the end of 1 Chronicle.

The last few chapters of that book tells us about the planning and preparations of the temple in Jerusalem. It is very clear that David had done a lot of preparation for building the temple. In the last two chapters we are told how he is commissioning his son to carry on the important work.

He could give his son blueprints describing what he had in mind. He had stored up all kind of material, gold and silver, bronze and cut stones, wood, precious stones and artworks. Now he urged him to work carefully according to the blueprints to glorify God through this building project. "This glorious building is not intended for men but for God!"

"Be strong and courageous and finish the work! Don’t be afraid or dismayed. The Lord your God is with you. He will never leave you but be with you to help you accomplish everything that needs to be done in the House of God. You will have sufficient of manpower, able and willing people, to do all the work!"

When we clearly describe what we want to build according to the Word of God we will have everything we need to do the work. God will provide funds, building-material and all the people we need to accomplish what he wants us to do! Able and willing people will flock to leaders with a clear vision!
