God is at work in Nepal

Our trip to Nepal is about coming to an end. We have been meeting believers in Kathmandu and Hetauda mainly, but also some from remote villages in this area. They are all reporting that God is at work. They are seeing people come to Christ, being baptised and added to the covenant communities. Believers are being filled with the Spirit, speaking in tongues and operating in spiritual gifts. The political situation is somehow unstable, but the Kingdom of God is fast advancing in this former Hindu kingdom.

I have been teaching in the Bible School in Kathmandu, as well as speaking in worship services in Kathmandu as well as in Hetauda. We have also had seminars both places and have seen the Holy Spirit move in our midst. Our Indian friend Zephry D'Souza has been giving a wonderful teaching on how God gives his people power or ability to produce wealth.

In Hetauda we even met with some evangelical church leaders facing problems in their church due to the fact that God had been working powerfully among the young people baptising them in the Holy Spirit and enabling them to speak in tongues. Some of the old believers didn't like it and the leaders didn't know how to handle the situation. We just told them that they as the leaders were the door to the flock and those who were responsible for giving the flock of God the proper nourishment. If they accepted the work of the Holy Spirit in their midst then the whole church would gradually accept it. It seemed to me that the church leaders would not accept the operation of the spiritual gifts in their church, so I don't know what is going to happen there.
We also met with many of the young people in that church at a dinner with the youth leader. They were all on fire for God and wanted to move with the Holy Spirit. They asked us for counsel as some other people had encouraged them to start a new church. We only told them to seek God and ask for his will. It is not good for us to tell people what to do in such a situation. They can only move ahead confidently when they have heard from God for themselves.

We have spent many hours on bad roads and we have almost been shaken to pieces, but we have seen some beautiful scenery when we have been crossing the mountains.
