All our ten grandchildren have been visiting us in the house in the forest with their parents this summer. Two grandchildren are still with us. I love my grandchildren. They are all very special and precious to me, each one uniquely created in the image of God. They are all different, but I don't prefer one before the other, for they are all wonderful grandchildren. It is a miracle in itself that I have 10 grandchildren as the doctors told my parents that I would never grow up to become an adult because of illness they could not heal. By the grace it din't turn oput the way the doctors predicted.
This morning I have been reading about the birth of John the Baptist. When he was born people said: "I wonder what will this child turn out to be? For the hand of the Lord was surely upon him in a special way."
(Lk 1:66). I look at my grandchildren with the same wonder. I know that the Lord has a unique plan and purpose for each and everyone of them. I know that they are all made wonderfully complex by the Lord. They are all the result of the marvellous workmanship of God, the Creator. And I wonder how they will develop their many talents and which way they will choose in life.
Solveig and I constantly pray for our grandchildren. We have committed them to the Lord from the day they were born and we are pronouncing the blessing of God upon them. We know the power of prayer. We know that the blessing of God is the most important thing in life. We are so happy that most of the grandchildren already have come to know the Lord for themselves. That is the greatest joy of grandchildren to know that your descendants are choosing to walk with God and serve him only.
