  • Sad news

We have had a very good time with the covenant community in Darjeeling. We have heard so many encouraging reports of what God is doing and we have enjoyed fellowship with our Nepali friends here.

In the midst of all the joy and rejoicing we also had some very sad news. One of our friends from Bangladesh, William, had planned to meet us here. We had looked forward spending time with him and to strengthen our relationship and friendship. However we have received the sad news that he and his family had an accident with the bus they were taking to come to Darjeeling. In this bus accident William’s wife was killed! William and his two children are alright. Due to this accident William could not come. He and his family is in much need of prayer. I have tried to contact him to find out how we may help him in this sad situation, but so far I have not succeeded. Please join me in fervent prayer for William and his two small children!

  • Visiting Darjeeling

Yesterday we arrived in Darjeeling. Henry and Jyoti met us at Bagdogra airport and took us by a Sumo to The Queen of the Hills – Darjeeling. Today we have had a wonderful day with sun shine and nice weather. The view towards the Himalayas is magnificient! Darjeeling is a wonderful town to visit. We have been booked into a nice hotel. We only have to climb 100 steps at the stairways leading to our room!
Today we have had an exciting report from Henry of his work in Nepal. He even brought some of his young disciples along with him. It was a great joy to hear their story. We will have more time together this evening and I am looking forward hearing more of what God is doing in Nepal. One of the disciples Henry brought along with him told us that his father had 11 wives and they were 50 members in his family! But the amazing thing is that all of them have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour!

  • Perspectives on war 2

Today I like to share some insight on the New Testament perspective on war!

  • Perspectives on war 1

Some time ago I wrote a kind of Bible study on the issue of war. The war in Iraq and the current terrorism are making the issue of war a very relevant one for many people. I like to share some insight from the Old Testament first.

  • God is working wonders.

We have had some wonderful days with the covenant community in Jaipur. We are amazed of what the Lord is doing in India. Old and young servants of God are telling the same story of God working wonders among common people all over the place in this great nation of India.

Jorgi we met for the first time many years ago. He is about my age, but I think he looks much older! He has been serving the Lord for all the years I have known him. He is going from village to village with the good news of the Kingdom of God. He is confronting the powers of darkness and bringing deliverance to people in bondage. He is such a quit person, a bit shy, but he is powerful in the Holy Spirit. Once he came to a place where there were a lot of occult practices. The leader of the occult activities turned mad! When Jorgi arrived in the village there was great confusion because of that. Jorgi confronted the evil spirits and healed the leader! Then he spent more than four hours in cleaning the place of the occult articles! The following days God performed mighty miracles in that place and eventually all the five villages that used to come to this occult leader for help came to the Lord!

I hope I will be able tell more stories of the wonders of God in India. Today we are going to New Dehli to be with some new friends before we will proceed to Darjeeling on Wednesday.

  • The source of my life

The word that comes from God

Gives purpose and meaning to my life.

The word from God is my source of life

From where I daily can draw new life.

The word of God is the fountain of salvation

From where I, with joy, drink deeply,

Allowing the Word to form my identity,

By believing and confessing what he says

He has done for me in Christ.

It is so good to believe what God says about me.

It is so good and decent to shout it loudly

And confess that I am what God says I am in Christ.

I am a child of God through faith in Christ!

I am born again by the power of the Holy Spirit!

I am a brand new creation!

    I am righteous before God!

I am the heir of God and the co-heir of Christ!1

  • Distributing fishing boats and nets

    Boats Boats2 Dscf0278 Dscf0293

During our visit to the coastal area of Andra Pradesh we were able to hand over several fishing boats and nets to fishermen who lost their boats and nets in the tsunami. Believers in Norway and England have given generously towards this project. So far we have been able to distribute 34 new fishing boats to these poor fishermen who lost everything during the tsunami. We have also been able to distribute about 300 nets. Still there are many more fishermen waiting for new boats and nets. Therefore we are continuing to raise funds to help more tsunami victims. One of these small fishing boats that we are providing will enable four families to earn their living from fishing! To us it is a small investment. To them it is their life and their future that is at stake!

I praise God that he has enabled us to help at least some of these precious people. I was so moved to see their joy and thankfulness when we handed over the boats and nets to them. They took us on a ride with a boat and we had a very enjoyable time on the Krishna River towards the Bay of Bengal!
