In communion with God, through the Word,

I am learning to know God and myself.

I discover who I am in my fellowship with God.

He calls me by name.

He tells me who I am in him.

He calls me to follow him

That I may become everything he has intended me to be.

In communion with God,

When the Word comes to me,

I find my right identity in Christ.

In the light of the brightness of the glory of God

That is seen in the face of Jesus Christ,

I see myself created to his glory.

I see myself created to reflect Him.¹

It is already one week since we left Norway and this is the first time I am able to connect to the Internet to post a blog.

Today we have had a most exciting time with some great servants of God. One of them was a young man called Alfez. I like you to meet him!

I am hoping I will meet with Manish while I am here in India this time. I shared the gospel with him awhile ago and gave him a copy of my book "Friends of Covenant". After a long time I have heard from him again. He has been reading my book and has been blessed by it and is reaching out for more contact. I am really looking forward seeing him again!

One day a disciple approached his Master and asked him to teach him to pray. The Master answered; “Give me your Bible!” After receiving the Bible he opened it and started reading from the first verses of the letter to the Ephesians. He lifted his eyes to heaven as he said; “This is the way to pray.” First he read the first verse out loud. After a few moments of silence, he slowly repeated every word two or three times. Then he read the entire verse once more, was silent, read the second verse, lifted his voice, asked for mercy, sung the same verse, spoke it, lifted the arms towards heaven, he was so gripped by the word that tears ran down his cheeks. ….. Then he continued to read as he prayed, sang, and spoke the words back to God. He totally forgot the disciple standing by his side.

If we read and sing, utter and pray the Word of God, allowing it to grip us, we will experience something similar to the Master. The Word from God in our mouth and heart has a wonderful ability to strengthen us in our innermost being, as well as to take us out of our

I taste and relish the Word. I turn to and apply the Word. I allow it to come to me in new ways, from new angles. I speak my self into the Word and then speak the Word into me. It is a wonderful circle, where the Word goes from mouth to heart and from heart to mouth. Through meditation the Word becomes personal to me!

When we study the Bible we use our intellect, while we use our heart and mouth when we meditate. “The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of justice. The Law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide” (Psalm 37:30-31). The righteous one has the Word of God in his heart and repeats it regularly and re-calls it to himself. To meditate is to speak to your self. It is to chat about the wisdom of the Word. The Word fills my heart and mind, and I repeatedly utter it to my self.

To meditate on the Word may be compared to ruminating, chewing the cud. It is nurturing on the Word. The difference between reading and meditating on the Word is as big as the difference between greeting unknown people and having a deep talk with a close friend. When we nurture on the Word we enter into a conversation and communion with God. That is much more than giving a short greeting!

I have often been asked how a Christian may live in continual renewal of the mind, constantly being refreshed in his faith. To live in the Word and in the Spirit is the simple answer. It is meditation on the Word and living in an intimate fellowship with God. It is reading the Bible prayerfully, repeating the Word, chewing and tasting it during the day, conversing with God about what He has said.

Early tomorrow morning we leave for India. We will visit 6 states and meet with many friends all over the country. I will try to report on what we are experiencing, on the people we meet, and on what we are seeing God doing in this great nation.

I have written several entries to be posted on my blog even if I am not online. That guarantees that something will be happening on my blog when we are away! However, the most exciting things will be the reports on what God is doing in India!

I have gone right from the Mega Shift book to the 2004 version of David Garrison’s book Church Planting Movements. I find it very exciting and challenging! The book describe what I long to see take place in Norway and the entire western world.
