Prophetic obedience

The
anointing brings about an exactness in the prophetic ministry in obeying the
word of God and expressing in life the very heart of God. The anointing brings
us into a first-hand touch with God, like seeing God face to face. This is how
the life of Moses was summed up: “There has never been another prophet like
Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face (Deut. 34:10). When we enter into the
place of direct spiritual knowledge of God, we cannot, under any consideration
be a person who compromise. When we have seen the Lord we cannot for any
advantage at all deviate from what has been shown to our heart.

Moses was
faithful to God and the pattern shown him on the mountain. He was faithful in
all the details of the house of God (Hebrews 3:5). Serving God faithfully
always means being exact in the way we are obeying God. Everything in the
Tabernacle Moses was told to build was an illustration of truths to be revealed
later. It was to be an representation of Christ to a fraction. Therefore it was
necessary that it in every detail he should be exact.

The
prophetic ministry is governed by what God has shown in our heart by revelation
as to the purpose of God. The prophets never accommodated themselves to
anything that was comparatively good. They could only accept that which was
fully in line with the will of God. Prophets can never accept as full and final
what is only comparative, even though they may rejoice in the measure of good
that there may be anywhere. Prophetic ministry cannot settle for anything else
than the total faithfulness to God’s thoughts. Prophetic ministry always has the
fullness of Christ in view and cannot rest in anything less than that.

The spirit
of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus (Revelation 19:10). Prophets, alongside
all the ministry gifts, were given to mature the people of God that they might
be full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ
(Ephesians 4:13). That is the end towards the prophets are working, and they
can never be satisfied with anything less than the fullness of Christ as
represented by the church which is his body. The prophetic ministry is always
seeking the fullness of Christ, focusing on the finality of Christ, consumed by
the all-inclusiveness of Christ in the purpose of God. To prophetic ministry
Christ is first and last, he is the centre and the circumference, Christ in
general and Christ in every detail.

When we
have seen Christ by revelation we can never accept anything less or anything
other. The only way to reach God’s end is by seeing by the Holy Spirit what God
is after. Seeing and pursuing Christ is the very basis of prophetic ministry.
