  • Hallmarks of a prophet

I have been meditating a lot on the ministry of the prophet recently. At all the gatherings we had with our covenant friends in India and Nepal we were focusing on the gift of prophecy and the ministry of a prophet. We know that the two are not the same. We must never confuse a gift with a ministry! The gift is just a grace given to a believer by the Holy Spirit enabling him to do certain things. A ministry is a gift given by the Risen Lord to the church. All the ministry gifts of Ephesian 4:11 are given to the entire church for equipping the saints for their service in the body of Christ. The ministry of a prophet is vital to the spiritual health and wellbeing of the church of God. We may recognize a prophetic ministry by certain hallmarks.

  • Prem Lama

In Kathmandu we met with many covenant friends and Prem Lama stands out among them. He is different in many ways. First of all he has only one leg and need big crutches to walk. But he doesn't seem to have any handicap at all. He could even dance on the one leg! He is full of faith and optimism. He is active. He is constantly reaching out to others. He is confident and he is even playing a guitar that according to my wife needed to be tuned!

Kona mi og eg har nettopp vore i Orissa
kor me på forunderleg vis fekk kontakt med, enkja og dottera etter pastor Dibya

  • Prophetic days in Nepal

We are now on the way back home to Norway after an exciting time in Kathmandu, Nepal. Our visit to Kathmandu was historic and prophetic. My book "Finding your place" was launched in Nepali by Good News Publisher at at gathering with about 40 pastors during the weekend. That was an historic event as it was my first book to be published in the Nepali language. As we introduced the book we had a good dialog with the Christian leaders present. I am convinced that the book will be a great blessing to the disciples in Nepal.

  • I kissed Queen Elizabeth!

Today we arrived safely in Kathmandu Nepal. Our friend Henry waited for us and took us to the hotel and later to the town centre Thamel. I followed my wife into a very exclusive shop. We had to walk through a narrow gangway covered with all kinds of beautiful and colourful shawls, table cloths, bedcovers, etc. My wife contemplated buying some exclusive Pashmina shawls. The shop owner looked twice at my beautiful wife and asked if she were from England and not waiting for an answer he continued to say that she looked like Queen Elizabeth II. Immediately I kissed the Queen Elizabeth I have been married to for nearly 44 lovely years! That royal kiss made my day!

When we visited Kalimpong my wife was mistaken for a famous movie actress. I think she was very much flattered by the mistake, but today she was not sure how to take it since the real Queen Elizabeth II is many years older than her. However, being taken to be the Queen still made her day and we have been enjoying a royal romance ever since that royal kiss at the exclusive shop! And of cause we have been laughing all day having a lot of fun together.

    We have just
arrived in New Dehli after a very good time in Udaipur. During our stay in
Udaipur we were not able to connect to the Internet. What a joy to discover
that at the hotel where we are staying at the moment we could connect to a
wireless Internet connection! I have a wonderful story I would like to share
    with my friends.

    My friends
Rangy told me that ten days ago he was approached by a man who wanted him to
come and pray for her sister, the wife of a Hindu Sadhu – a so called holy man.
His wife had been ill for three years. She had been tormented and in much pain
and her back been bent. She was not able to walk straight.

  • Weeping with a widow and her daughter

    Orissa_10
    On the last
day of our stay in Orissa God enabled us to meet with our dear friend, who is one
of the victims of the recent violence against Christians in Orissa. For safety
reasons I can’t disclose her name, but she was married to one of covenant
brothers who served as a pastor in the district of Kandhamal and who was killed
by Hindu extremists. With her eyes filled with tears she told us a very sad
    story.

    Orissa_3_2
We are hearing gruesome stories of the violence and persecution against Christian believers in Orissa. About 26.000 believers are in relief camps and more people are still hiding in the jungle. In the relief camps they are given food and shelter by the government. But some of the camps are being bombed from outside by the Hindu extremists. Some places the Hindus are sending in small children to poison the food and the water. Only 4 villages in the entire Kandhamar district are not affected by the violence against Christians.
