Today we have been learning together the art of seeing. We have been together all morning and we have had a wonderful time of dialog and practical teaching. The Spirit of God taught us to be alert to receive from God the blessings he is pouring out from his open heaven. God longs to bless his people. He wants us to be refreshed every day, but so often we don't see his finger or even his hand at work in our life and in our circumstances. We walk through life as if were blind to the workings of the Spirit of God. All too often we are deaf to the voice of God and we don't understand the music of the Spirit, therefore we don't obey him nor do we dance to his rhythm of life.
Today the Spirit led us all to look at the same object to pay attention to what he wanted us to see.It was amazing to hear people share what they saw with their natural eyes through the Spirit. God brought forth many deep truths and spoke to individuals and all of us together in wonderful ways. So many people took part and God spoke through each and everyone of us. It was a great experience!
God wants us to be awake, to be alert, to watch and pray, at all times, that we may see what he is doing and hear what he is saying and be led by his Spirit to bring encouragement to others.
This morning I was particularly bless by a new lady disciple. She spoke so boldly, only short sentences or statements at a time, but always to the point! What a wonderful the Spirit had done in this new believer.
The art of seeing is something to be learned through our daily walk with God. This art cannot be learned through intellectual exercise, but only by allowing the Spirit to open the eyes of our hearts to see through our natural eyes. But it has to do with our attitudes as well. It has to do with what we are looking for and how we are using our eyes. Over and over again God is saying, see, look, behold, pay attention! And over and over again he is asking us this question, "What do you see?" A prophetic sign may be in front of us without us taking any notice of it, because we have not learned the art of seeing.
The believers at Laodicea didn't realize their true state. They didn't see themselves in the light of God. They were all too pleased with their wealthy status quo and blind to the reality of their spiritual poverty. Jesus advised them to buy the true riches and to buy salve to put on their eyes, so they could see. Who ever has eyes, let him see what the Spirit says to the community of God's people.
