The restored house of God

I have just
spent time the prophet Ezekiel and I have been listening to his description of
the restored house of God. The glory of God fills this house which is the place
of God’s throne and the place for the soles of his feet (Ezekiel 43:7). We are
told that the law of the house is absolute holiness (43:12) and that the
covenant people must be faithful to its design and follow all its regulations
(43:11).

When the
Spirit of God came upon the prophet he was taken in visions of God to the holy
mountain where the Son of Man explained to him the many details of the restored
house of God. The prophet was from the very beginning told to look carefully
and listen closely and pay attention to everything he was shown. That was the
very purpose of the Spirit in giving him this vision, for him to see and notice
everything in close observation to be able to tell the covenant people
everything he had seen.

Even today
this is one of the main functions of the prophets, namely to describe to the
people of God the glorious restored house of God. If the people repent from
their own human and sinful ways, they will be given further revelation and
spiritual insight into the perfection and the design and the arrangements and
all its regulations and laws. If the people insist in having their own way
there will be no more revelation from God and they will not be part of the
restored functions of the house of God.

One of the
most fascinating features of the restored house of God is the river of life
that is flowing from the foundation of its entrance. This river of life makes
everything it touches fresh, sound, fruitful and vibrant of glorious life. The
restored hose of God has in other words a transformational effect on society at
large and will bring it to maturity and harmony as it brings healing to the
nations.

    Hi Erling!
Interesting to read your meditations on Ezekiel. One thing I’m thinking when I read your text:
    – The book of Ezekiel begins when the prophet sees a revelation of God in his glory and ends with the prophet seeing a revelation of the house of God. When we see who God are we are able to see his house in the right light.

    Hi Håvard!
All the prophets are consumed by the glorious holiness of God and they are zealous for the House of God. Their burden is to see God dwell among his covenant people to show forth his glory to the entire world.Only when we have a revelation of glory of God we will be able to see his glorious work and presence in his house which is his people.
