Visiting the Norwegian Book-town

After meeting with the church Sunday morning Solveig and I picked up Elisabet and Knut Osland and went to Fjærland in Sogn to visit the Norwegian Book-town. When we arrived in the evening we had a wonderful meal at Fjærland Fjordstue Hotell where we stayed for the night. Elisabet was not very enthusiastic about the Booktown and the old books. She had planned to leave us with the books and to visit the Glacier Museum or climb the mountains. However

she found a shelf of books at the hotel, and then she was hooked. She started to read and enjoy and of the second hand books. Next morning she wanted to join us visiting the many book shops. At the end we had difficulties in getting her with us home. She could have stayed with the books for weeks!

The Book-town is a paradise for book lovers. We spent almost the full day buying books! The car was filled, nearly to the roof when we left. I bought some books for the library of the Bible School. The books I bought for my self can be divided into three categories: 1. Theology, 2. Poetry, 3. Linguistic books. Solveig bought biographies and a lot of children’s books. She is a perfect grandmother!

I have been to this Book Town also Erling! I took a boat trip up the fjord and visited the Glacier Museum too. I will be visiting Sogndal again later in August, also briefly passing through Bergen. We come by boat from Newcastle. God sommer!
