I met Prem Lama nearly
one year ago in Kathmandu. He stood out in the group of men he was
with. His face was shining. He had this happy and confident look
about him that true saints have. His eyes were full of life, full of
joy and expectancy. He was overflowing of a deep inner peace.
One more thing made
him stand out among the other men he was with. He needed crutches to
walk because he had only one leg. I learnt that he had lost the leg
in an accident. Shortly after the accident he came to know the Lord.
He gave a wonderful testimony of how he came to the Lord. Now he was
leading a fellowship of 67 believers.
A few days ago I met
Prem in Pokhara in Nepal. I only saw him a few minutes this time, but
I will never forget what he said: «Last time you came we were
67 believers in our fellowship. When you thaught us; from Luke 10 on
praying for workers, going two by two into new villages to pray for
workers, fellowshiping with the man of peace, healing the sick,
preachign the good news of the Kingdom of God, and sending those who
receive the Kingdom message to bring in the harvest; I felt I needed
to do that. When I returned to my place I put your teaching into
practice. Now, less than one year later, we are more than 200
believers in our fellowship!»
Then he went on
telling how the Lord had led him to arrange a healing programme for
twelve days. During those days God had worked powerfully among them
by the Holy Spirit. The presence of God was tangible. People fell to
the ground by the power of the Spirit when Prem walked among them. He
didn’t even touch them!
During the healing
programme he arranged 36 healings took place. Blind people received
their sight. Deaf people could hear. Some lame and paralyzed persons
were completely healed as well.
This morning Prem was
standing on his one leg, leaning on his crutches as he told how God
had been using him since we last met. Then he said that he actually
had an appointment with some German doctors in Kathmandu in the
afternoon. He had been given a large amount of money by some
unbelievers to have an artifical leg, but he lacked 18000 Nepali
Rupees and he wanted to meet with me so he came to Pokhara instead of
going to Kathmandu to convince the German doctors to give him the leg
even if he could not pay the full amount.
Just before he told
his story I had been wondering by myself if it would be possible for
him to have an artificial leg that he could be able to walk without
the crutches. When he told his story I immediately felt that I had to
help him. I had been given some funds before I left Norway that I
could use for needs like this.
When we required ath
the travel agent he said that the flights for Kathmandu was all
fully booked and that there was no chance that he could reach
Kathmandu that afternoon. Nevertheless Prem Lama went to the airport.
By a miracle he got his ticket and arrived in time to meet the German
doctors. As far as I understand he has received his new leg.
Next time we meet I
hope I can have more time with my friend to hear more about the
details concerning the healings and miracles that takes place in his
ministry. And I like to take a picture of him walking without his
crutches. Then I will listen to how God has worked in and through his
life since last we met. This time we only had a short time together,
next time I hope we will have plenty of time to fellowship and to
give glory to God!
