Having prophetic words fulfilled

As I have been reading the prophet Zechariah one sentence have stuck with me. It is the last sentence in chapter six and verse fifteen: "This will happen if you diligently obey the Lord your God." In the previous verses God had given some wonderful promises of the temple being restored and build by the Lord's servant the Branch – ultimately the Messiah – but immediately Joshua son of Jozadak. After God had given these wonderful promises he said that there was a condition to see the prophetic words fulfilled: obedience to God.

In fact God is saying that the prophetic words only would be fulfilled if the people diligently obeyed the Lord their God. Acting on the word of God is the key to see the promises of God fulfilled. A sloppy or halfhearted obedience would not do. Only a full obedience is good enough to God. A halfhearted obedience is good as no obedience. God is looking for those who are wholehearted with him and who obey him diligently. Those are the people who will see the word of God come to completion.

I beleive that the new prophetic generation God is raising up will be hallmarked by their obedience to the word of God.

    Such a good word!
Many today believe that any obedience is “works” and legalism.
