Language – a challenge

Language is a challenge to me. I am raised in Norway in the Stavanger area and speak the dialect of that region. At school I was taught the New Norwegian or Nynorsk which is quite different from the Book Language or Bokmål. The two offical forms of Norwegian are a cause of hot discussions and heated feelings.

Nynorsk is the real nationalistic Norwegian and Bokmål is half Danish. The problem is that the people of power are in favour of Bokmål and discriminate the ordinary people using Nynorsk. Our language is being ridiculed and mocked all the time. I am tired of that and like to see a change take place!
