Sunday morning we had a very good time with the covenant community in Jaipur. I have never seen so many people gathered at the Rotary Club any time before, even though it took quite some time for the all the people to arrive at the gathering. But it is a great joy to meet with the covenant friends. I am always encouraged by all the stories of how God is helping in so many different ways in the every day life of his people. This Sunday God also spoke some wonderful truths to us as well. He spoke of transforming the desert to a fruitful place and changing the cistern into a spring of living waters.

A cistern is in need of water being put into it. If it is a god cistern it may contain the water for a long time. Often though the cisterns are broken and therefore leaking and not able to contain the water for a long period of time.Some cisterns are totally broken and utterly useless in containing water in a dry season.

The spring is totally different. It is not dependant on someone from outside pouring in water. It contains a ever flowing fountain on the inside. It is ever overflowing from an internal source. It is always reaching out to others with streams of living waters. It always seeks to give to others and bless people.

A cistern cannot transform the desert. It can only keep a family alive for a limited period of time. An ever flowing fountain or a spring of living waters can keep many families alive for unlimited time and even transform a desert into a garden of God.

The covenant community is not a cistern. The community of God's people is a spring of living waters ever flowing to bless and transform people and society at large.

Today we are going to Andra Pradesh to be with many friends and even meet some new people. We expect the river of God to flow in this state as well. I am not sure if we will be able to connect to internet while we are in AP but I know we will stay connected to the eternal spring of living waters.
