The day in Sri Lanka I had a very pleasant surprise when my friend Cushan came to see me at the hotel. Rohan, a friend of him from Kandy had phoned him to invite him to come for some seminar. Cushan wanted to come and asked, "Who is the speaker?" Rohan answered, "I don't remember his name, but it is he who taught George covenant!" Then Cushan realized it was me he was talking about. When I came to teach in a seminar first time 18 years ago and the following two visits, covenant was one of my main subjects.
Today I was introduced by George himself in a similar way when he welcomed us at his church. He told how this word covenant stuck with him since we first met, even before my visit to Sri Lanka 18 years ago. Then again he introduced me as the one who taught him covenant. I was very much moved by this introduction. I was overwhelmed by the goodness and faithfulness of God towards his word and how he watches over his word to bring it to completeness.
This is the best title I have ever been given. It fills me with gratefulness and awe. It is almost as if I can't believe it, that I am "He who taught George covenant". George is now leading Covenant Life Ministries in Kandy, Sri Lanka. God is using him powerfully in knitting hearts together with the covenant father heart of God.
I am sure you understand that I had to respond positively to George's request to teach on covenant practices today. 55 people were gathered together and we had a wonderful time of dialog and teaching. I also met many other old friends like Solomon, who still remembered the prophetic words I was able to bring him on my last visit. They had all come true, he told me.
I am so thankful to God to be able to carry such a life transforming message as the message of the New Covenant in Jesus Christ. There is nothing as rewarding as the covenant life God as brought us into through the blood of Jesus Christ. By his grace we are able to develop lasting friendship and enduring relationships.
