Retreat with young families

I have been unconnected to Internet for the last few days, but I have not been disconnected to life. During this weekend Solveig and I have hosted sixteen persons at the house in the forest for a prophetic retreat. We have thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Solveig has been very busy with food and all the practical things, but in spite of that she has also taken active part in sharing insight and bringing prophetic words. This weekend I have not taken much part in the practical work, but I have been talking or to put it in a nicer way, I have been in dialogue with the young people all the time, sharing and receiving spiritual insight.

We had agreed on one subject that we wanted to look at: The Disciplines of a Prophet. Most of the young people were well prepared and was able to share valuable insight into the spiritual exercises of a prophet. As they were sharing their insight we had a very good dialogue on the subject.
Because of our Charismatic background most of us are not familiar with the language of the Classical Disciplines, even though we are not foreign to the realities of these disciplines. Many of the young people were not accustomed to the idea of disciplines or exercises at all, even though they practice many of them.
It was kind of enlightening to discover the cap in understanding and use of language regarding the Classical Disciplines of a Spiritual Life.
Now we will study Richard Foster's book "Celebrating the Disciplines" together to get a better grip on what it is all about. I believe that will help us to understand the Disciplines of the Prophets ever better!
