Tribulations of life

The word of God is saying that we have to enter the Kingdom of God through many tribulations. We have not been promised that life is a dance on roses. During these days in India we have had many hassles, most of them not serious.

But one day in Bhubaneswar Solveig met with an accident. She was knocked down by an auto (a three-wheeler). As she was about to enter, the auto jumped forward and she fell to the ground. She was bleeding from some bruises on the elbow. She also had some back pain. We had the wounds cleansed and bandaged and carried on as usual.

However, the back pain increased and she had to take painkillers. In Andra Pradesh we took her to a doctor who examined her thoroughly. She had to take an x-ray of the back. The conclusion is that she is suffering from muscular injuries. She has been given relaxing and painkilling pills, and told to take rest.

We thank God for his protection. We thank God that there are no serious injuries. We thank God for his presence in the midst of our tribulations in life.

We have just had the news that the son of one of our friends was killed in a motorbike accident when we were on the way to Jaipur. Our compassion is with our friends who lost their 25 year old son. We know what it is to lose a son in that age. We will visit them and hope we will be able to comfort them in their mourning and sorrow.

We will make Paul’s words ours:

For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.  2.Cor.4:17-18
