Today I have met with Peter, a friend of mine since 1971 when he was a student. Peter gave me a very encouraging report of God is doing. He told me that there has been a powerful move of the Holy Spirit in his area. Many young believers have been filled with the Holy Spirit and started to function in spiritual gifts. And many people come to Christ.

As they are boldly proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God they are seeing many miracles take place. A Hindu businessman with a serious heart problem was healed by prayer in the name of Jesus Christ. His wife approached Peter to ask him to pray for her husband. Peter gave her the gospel message, which she accepted, and then he prayed for the husband. The businessman said he believed in all religions, but his wife persuaded him to believe in Jesus Christ only and receive him as his only Lord. As he had been instantly healed as a result of prayer he also received Jesus Christ into his heart. Their two sons were without a job, even though they had a good education. Soon after prayer they both got jobs in their hometown. They were so happy that they brought sweets to the church as a token of their gratefulness. Now the entire family is part of the covenant community.

Mukesh, who is a teacher in a government school, has been used by God in a mighty way. His headmaster asked him to come and pray for his sister who was seriously ill, in fact she was dying. Mukesh called Peter, and the two of them went to the headmaster’s sister. They spoke the word of God to her and she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. Then they laid hands on her and prayed for her in the name of Jesus Christ. She was instantly healed in front of them and rose from her bed. A major politician, the leader of the local Hindu fundamentalist BJP party, had come to visit the family. He arrived when Mukesh and Peter were praying in the name of Jesus Christ and he saw the miracle take place with his naked eyes. To their surprise he spoke friendly to them and honoured God because of this miracle.

Even in the government school God is using Mukesh in a wonderful way. They all know that he is a disciple of Jesus Christ and they come to him for prayer when they are ill. Mukesh ask them to look straight into his eyes, and he prays a silent prayer in his heart, listen to the Holy Spirit, and speak healing words to them. Because it is a government school he cannot pray for the people publicly in the name of Jesus Christ, so he only prays in his heart. Many people have been healed through his prayers. Later many of them come to the covenant community to become part of the family of God.
