Baktha from Mugu in the Himalayas

I met Baktha in Kathmandu last october at a short term Bible School. He is a fine young man who has committed his life to Jesus Christ. He lives with his family in Mugu, remote village in the western part of Nepal in the Himalayan mountain range. He has to walk for nearly 7 days to get to the nearest road and transportation system.

During our recent visit to Kathmandu we met Baktha for the second time. This time he was very excited and full of joy. His face was radiant when he told us what had happened to him since our last visit. "I learnt so much at the Bible School and I have put it into practice," he exclaimed, " and I am seeing results!"

Before he came to the Bible School people didn't listen to him when he tried to share the Good News about Jesus Christ. But now people are listening to what he has to say. The reason for this change, according to Baktha, is that at the Bible School he learnt to spend time in prayer before doing any evangelization. After prayer he now boldly share the gospel with family and friends. They are open to what he is saying and are really listening to him.

He is now leading a group of young people in his village. The total number of believers in Mugu is 35 at the moment. Since October he has seen 4 new people receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. He has also seen many people being healed, even though a paralyzed man he prayed for has not been healed yet.

I was so encouraged by listening to his testimony and looking at his joyful and radiant face. The one month Bible School has indeed brought good fruits in this young life. I am looking forward meeting him again to hear more of how God is using him. He is one of the many everyday heroes advancing the Kingdom of God in Nepal.
