Agents of provision

As I have been searching the Scripture, I have been convinced, that trees are images of people acting and living in certain ways. I have been meditating on the Green Tree concept these days, as it has found a resonance in my heart. I believe that every follower of Jesus Christ is supposed to be a Green Tree! And certainly, all the ministry gifts of the Risen Lord are Green Trees, as they are living in the presence of God, and enjoying a fresh anointing by the Holy Spirit. As Green Trees we are God’s agents of provision to his people!

When God created the trees to grow seed-bearing fruit, it was for four purposes at least: 1. To reproduce trees of like kind; 2. To provide food for mankind (and other creatures); 3. To provide medicine and healing for nations and people. 4. To provide beauty, rest and shelter (see Genesis 1:11,29; 2:9; Ezekiel 17:22-24; 47:12; Revelation 22:2; Psalm 1:3; Jeremiah 17:8; Hosea 14:4-9). We find this repeated throughout Scripture that trees are agents of provision.

The Green Trees are images of the believers who are fed by the spiritual water of the Word and the Spirit. They bring healing to the nations of the world by the life-giving word of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! They look after others and care for them, giving them their fruit all through the year. They refresh people by the beauty fragrance of their lives. They can disciple nations, ethnic groups, communities, churches and individuals through their words of encouragement and instruction.

The Green Trees are plantings of the Lord. They do not grow wild. They are planted, cared for, and nurtured by the Lord himself, as they are living in the blessed presence of God Almighty.

God uses even the tree as an image of himself: “I am the one who looks after you and cares for you. I am like a tree that is always green, giving my fruit to you all through the year” (Hosea 14:8).
