Love and authority

This morning I was reading the book of the prophet Isaiah and I came across a verse on love and authority that spoke to my heart. "In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it – one from the house of David – one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness." (Isaiah 16:5). Only in love a throne is established and only in love true spiritual authority can be exercised! Only a faithful man can have true spiritual authority and his authority will be used to bring justice and to speed the cause of righteousness. Since God is love, spiritual authority must be an expression of love.

The purpose of authority is to reveal God's will. There are measures of authority in a person and if we are spiritual we will recognize it. If we are truly schooled by the Spirit we will recognize the measure of authority in a person as it is a spiritual thing. We are not to submit to anyone because of their ministry title or position, only because of the measure of authority they are carrying by the Spirit of God.Biblical principle of authority is spiritual, it has nothing to do with the authority of a military system or any other secular system. We cannot have a spiritual principle from a non spiritual root. Many things we say on Biblical authority can be agreed on by many secular people saying this is the same principle we operate on in our business etc., but it is not! Among the people of God we operate according to spiritual authority. If authority is no spiritual it becomes legalistic.
The only way to live under the Lordship of Jesus Christ is by the Spirit of God. We are to know one another by the Spirit and not after the flesh. God is behind God given authority and if we are spiritual we will recognize that authority. When we meet a person with spiritual authority, it is like a measure of God meeting another measure of God, a different order, and I bow to that greater measure!
